观日

时己丑年六月初一，公历七月廿二日晨七时五五。闻今有日食，百年无二。遂速自床起，凡着衣洗漱用餐之事，一切从紧。
餐余，执观食之镜，赴门外桥头，望东山旭日，静候日食。
逾时，至八时八分，始见日之 初亏 .喜出既望。速拨电话，告吾所见所闻于烨。又喜闻父亲来电，亦言日食之始也。复待一时，始见 食既 、 食甚 之象。天乍黑，暗如夜。日在上，月在下，月往蔽之。天地苍穹，如无月之夜，但见繁星三两，闪烁光芒。立天地之间，纵伸五指亦难见哉。行人众，聚而议，连连叹乎怪哉；或言科学伟妙，竟知天上事。 食甚 延时五六分，乃现 生光 之象。日自月后出，天挂 贝利珠 ,如孔明之灯，瞬时划破长空，天渐亮。继而， 复圆 之象乃出。此象殊为持久，约七十分钟有余。虑其持久，况精彩已尽，余不复观之。转而入室，观电视而博览藏、滇、川、渝、鄂、赣、苏、浙、沪等地之全食景观，及疆、蒙、京、鲁等地之偏食之象，更有印、缅、扶桑诸国各地之日象汇集，蔚为壮观，甚为悦目。
待晚，余观新闻。吾闻木星者，有坑大如地球，人言系外星天体莽撞所致也。惊呼！
观日食之人，亦或久观天象者，难免暇思宇宙之广，人命之微。今吾思世俗争名夺利之事，便觉可笑。以宇宙之观，察世俗之事，恰似以吾辈之心，体蝼蚁之情。然较之衡宇，吾辈尚不及蝼蚁。
